My soulmate realised

Over the past few days, that deep hunger to cross paths with my soul mate is tugging at my heart strings and shoe laces.

It’s that moment when, after not seeing him for a while, your heart skips a beat and you instantly smile as you’re reunited. You want to cherish every moment, every sensory experience. It’s the scenic surroundings, the cool breeze that blows the hair off your neck, the gentle whisper in your ear, and the unfamiliar yet inviting street that you know is the next step of your journey together.  You follow the white feather in front of you like Hansel and Gretel except you don’t mind if you get lost land up somewhere unfamiliar. You want to take a mental photo every five seconds and hold that moment close to your heart forever.

This week I was reminded of my infatuation and unwavering love for my soulmate. He’s always been there. When I was born I just knew he was out there and couldn’t wait to discover and meet him.

As Wikipedia says,

“A soulmate is a person with whom one has a feeling of deep or natural affinity. This may involve similarity, love, romance, friendship, intimacy, sexuality, sexual activity, spirituality, or compatibility and trust.”

That natural affinity where you inherently know that you are meant to be in that place, at that time, together. Whether it’s enjoying a picnic while watching a magical sunset, or being pleasantly lost together in a foreign city, you just trust each other. You are seduced on romantic dates sampling exotic dishes and deep red wine. You feel spiritually content in an intimate way as each moment is yours, unique and special. It’s that feeling of being completely at peace when you look around you and are thankful of your lifelong friendship.

You see, I really do ‘eye heart travel’.
If someone came up to me and asked me to name my favourite thing in the entire world; I would say my soulmate – travel. Without a doubt, I would confidently say, ‘I do.’ It’s one of those marriages where everyone in your life wasn’t surprised with the news of my engagement. It was a given. My commitment, passion and love for travel is eternal. Perhaps in a former life and in the next.

For now I’m rediscovering my home land, South Africa, but perhaps one day I’ll be able to create a business… An online travel website where I can merge my love for travel, online marketing, journalism while still having a home base. A girl can dream.
